She was a very special teacher and mentor for me who treated all her girls in the halau with utmost kindness and respect. I hope to continue to live by her example.

I am so lucky to have known her while she was alive, but now I have the opportunity to carry on her legacy through the same Uniki Program under the lineage of her kumu hula, the world famous Kumu Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett. I feel her presence when I’m on the Big Island in the training program.
